NINA RODRIGUEZ

Nina Rodriguez is a national facilitator, clinician and musical percussionist. As director of Drumming with Nina and Unlock the Rhythm. Nina's super charged interactive performances and programs have inspired audiences nationally. Her programs are designed for participants of all ages with clients ranging from the corporate world to youth. Whether coaches, teams, school districts, Fortune 500 companies, hospitals, conventions, community and non-profits, she delivers motivating, diverse educational programming using rhythm. Nina is a Toca endorsed rhythm facilitator. Also recognized for her participation on the Grammy winning album, "Rise and Shine" she shared the stage with "TV's Toughest Trainer," Jillian Michaels in a collaborative effort to promote Health & Wellness in schools and communities. With a stage presence best described as a cross between a symphony conductor and a motivational speaker, Nina is hugely enthusiastic, positive and very engaging. Through the authenticity of her skill, and the passion to see others exceed beyond their belief, she not only captivates, she inspires through an amazing interactive and liberating culmination of success for all. Results are life-changing!

When she's not running through airports, travelling the highways or facilitating team building sessions, working with youth, promoting anti bullying, drumming in hospitals with children and parents or consulting with school leaders and district officials, you can find her sitting in on congas at the local hot spot definitely centered with friends and family and "off the hook" culinary cuisine!

LEONOR RAMIREZ

At age 13, Leonor received a scholarship from Tito Puente to attend the prestigious Juilliard School of Music, where she studied Classical Piano. A graduate of the Professional Children’s School in New York, Leonor continued her education in Music, graduating from TCU with a degree in Classical Performance. Leonor is a Zumba Master Instructor for Drumming with Nina’s Drumzumbia programs.

JAI ROOTS LOPEZ

In his own words: "The music is who I am, worldly yet urban, a musical representation of countries, islands, the hills and rainforests from all corners of the world – this is where I come from."  Jai Roots is a multi-percussionist and vocalist.  He performs with Jai Roots and the Herb & Café Project and tours internationally with Mono Blanco.  Jai has shared the stage with Maná, Gipsy Kings, Café Tacuba, Cesária Évora, Lila Downs, Ziggy Marley and Manu Chao.

ALEX MCCUMBA

With a degree in film scoring from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Alex has studied under world-renowned music professors.  He currently produces music for TV and film production and ad agencies and has worked on projects for the San Antonio Spurs, Coca Cola, Verizon Wireless and a Super Bowl commercial featuring Eve Longoria Parker.  Alex writes all genres of music and recently completed a CD of original music entitled “Sentiments.”

DAVID MONTALVO

A certified Drum Circle Facilitator and world percussionist, David's excellent facilitation and percussion skills engage and energize.  He has studied with Afro-Cuban and West African Master Drummers on the congas, bongos, timbales, djembe, djun djuns and other percussion instruments

JEAN-CLAUDE LESSOU (JC)

Born and raised in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, JC began dancing professionally at age 15.He spent five years with the Dante Theater Company and toured the U.S. as principal dancer with Ballet Jolem.  He is the founder and choreographer of his performance ensemble, Sakebo.  He teaches at dance camps and performs at festivals throughout the U.S.  JC produced a special children’s event at the Kennedy Center in which he performed masked dances from his hometown village.  He has taught at Lisangua Ya Bato Dance and Drum Camp in Woodstock, NY and worked with students and faculty at Goddard College, Saint Michael’s College, Middlebury College and Norwich University in Vermont.  He works with high schools and dance studios around Austin to choreograph professional and student performances.

 

JOE GONZALES

Born in Houston, Texas, Joe Gonzales is a drummer, percussionist teacher, writer, instrumentalist and father now residing in San Antonio.  He plays all genres of music including marching percussion, African, Latin and Jazz.  Joe has won two Latin Grammy awards with world renowned La Mafia and has three Gold Records
