Why Do I Use Drums and Rhythm Instruments
Simply said, kids connect with music and you don’t need a lesson to play a drum! Our approach is unique, and very successful because drumming is an extraordinary potent example of stimulating healthy chemicals in our bodies. Stimulating the right chemicals rebalances the healthy chemicals learners need - naturally.
Science and Drumming
Neuro-chemicals that control focus, emotion, and engagement (oxcytocin, serotonin, GABA, and dopamine) get re-balanced through unique, easy to implement exercises using rhythm, stretching and ‘cross-brain’ movement. The connection is a natural fit and the chemical change is visible when you compare the way students walk into a session – and what they look like and speak like when they walk out. It is not just that they have had huge fun – but that their bodies and brains have an enhanced ability to perform at peak levels, their motivation is reignited, the innate sense of wellbeing is restored and focus and engagement are refreshed! Elementary Level
Our rhythm-based programs for elementary school students integrate affective skill development and academic learning with the exhilaration of percussive music-making to stimulate neurological receptivity to learning.
